For the tune in your headUse recording mode to capture the original song through your microphone. Keep the music louder than nearby conversation for a clearer sample.

For the clip you savedSometimes the melody is your only clue. A song finder lets you start with that sound: hum the tune you remember, record the music playing nearby, or upload a saved clip. Compare the song and artist with an available preview or listening link. Noise, arrangements and catalog coverage can still affect the match.

Record about 15 seconds of a chorus or another distinctive part. For an uploaded file, use a clear clip of at least 10 seconds, under 10 MB.
Submit your clip, then review the returned song details. Humming can return several possible matches; listen to an available preview to check the melody.
A forgotten chorus, an unnamed audio clip, or a tune that follows you home.
I keep little audio clips with no song names in my editing folder. The upload option is the part I’d reach for first. I’d rather check the artist and listen to a preview than guess from a lyric I probably heard wrong.

It’s usually three lines of a chorus stuck in my head, never the title. A separate humming mode makes sense to me. I can start with the bit I remember instead of trying to turn a melody into search words.

I only need to look up a song now and then, so another subscription wouldn’t suit me. A free first search and one-time credits are easier to understand. I like knowing the cost before I send a clip.

People often remember a bass line or a chorus, but not a single word. I like starting with the sound rather than a long list of guesses. Checking the artist and version matters too, especially when a song has several covers.

I save voice notes of tunes all the time and forget why I recorded them. Being able to choose humming or original music for an upload feels practical. Those are very different clips, even when I’m thinking of the same song.

A mystery track is a good reason to go digging, not a reason to trust the first title on a screen. I’d use a clear part of the recording, then follow the listening link. The preview is where I’d make up my mind.

Aim for about 15 seconds of a recognizable section. The recorder stops automatically after 15 seconds. Uploaded audio needs at least 10 seconds; the browser prepares a sample of up to 20 seconds for recognition.

The clip may be too noisy, the melody may be hard to distinguish, or the track may not be covered by the recognition service. Try a different part of the song and the correct mode. No result is better than an invented song name.
Not in this version. Song Finder currently uses microphone recordings and audio file uploads. It does not fetch video links or download music from social platforms.
